LERAA- Historic Optic Precision Rifle

GENERAL OUTLINE
The LERAA HOPR is a LERAA shoot designed for Historic Optic Rifle Variants. Other classes are
permitted with the consent of the executive by prior arrangement and will be classified in the
Hunter class. Targets used will be the figure 13, figure 12 and Huns head. The scoring will be
done by the Scorer and participants with scores relayed to the score board after each detail.

REPORTING/BRIEFING
All competitors are to report to the Club Hut at the Rankins Springs Target Shooting Complex.

IN ALL CASES THE WORD OF THE RANGE OFFICER IS FINAL

AMMUNITION – A minimum of 20 rounds are required to complete the event. Competitors
are to supply their own ammunition factory or reloads.
FIRING POSITIONS – Prone supported, kneeling supported and standing supported.
Competitors with disabilities may be permitted to shoot seated at a table but are expected to
shoot off-hand details as unsupported.
RIFLES – All shall be in the spirit of the original.
Historic Optic: per 1946
Hunter class: all other rifle after 1946


The following will apply regardless of the mark of make or model:
a. Optics must be period correct or of similar magnification.
b. Slings if used must be 2 point service pattern (leather or webbing) attached to the mid
band swivel and butt sling swivel
c. Shooting jackets, Padded Mats and Padded shooting gloves, bipods or personal sand bags
are not permitted

OUTLINE OF PRACTICES
Sighters – 2 sighting shots at a 300yd tin hat placed at 200yds will be permitted prior to the
practices

Match 1 Machine gun nest
Distance: 200 yards
Position: prone over sandbags
No. of Shots: 8 to count
Targets: Figure 13 and 2 x Huns head (2 rounds in each
target)
Scoring: scored individually (5, 4,)
Timing: 90 seconds

PROCEDURE

  1. The RO will instruct the rifles to be loaded with 8 rounds, then adopt the prone
    position. Seconds to signal readiness to RO.
  2. On the command ‘watch and shoot’ competitors will load the first round. On the
    blast of the whistle the competition will fire 2 rounds into each target.
  3. Scores will be collected at the end of the practice.

Distance: 300 yards
Position: standing, kneeling and prone all supported
No. of Shots: 10 to count
Targets: Figure 12
Scoring: scored individually (5, 4)
Timing: 120 seconds

PROCEDURE

  1. The RO will instruct the rifles to be loaded with 10 rounds, then adopt the
    standing supported position. Seconds to signal readiness to RO.
  2. On the command ‘watch and shoot’ competitors will load the first round. On the
    blast of the whistle competitors and to fire 3 rounds in the standing position,
    transition to the kneeling position and fire 3 rounds and finally transition to the
    prone position and fire 4 rounds.
  3. Rifles checked and cleared by seconds
  4. Scores will be collected at the end of the practice.
